FITOT

A network for life

We believe in organ and tissue donation and transplant as lifesaving treatment.
We have been working for 15 years to make donation culture a shared value.
We are committed to ensuring that training and information are correct and timely.
We promote scientific research so it can progress towards new goals, improving the quality of our lives.

The Veneto regional government, aware of the need for incisive action to increase the number of transplants and improve their results, created the Fondazione per l¤Incremento dei Trapianti d¤Organo e Tessuti(foundation to increase organ transplants), or FITOT in 1995, which became a not-for-profit organisation of social utility, or ONLUS, in 1998. FITOT was created as an entity with private legal personality to enable it to act quickly and flexibly, with the necessary dynamism.  In just the first three years of its existence, FITOT contributed to the doubling of the numbers of available organs and transplants in our region, a growing trend that continued in subsequent years and is still continuing. In fact today we can say that the Veneto is among the top regions in Italy, and the highest levels in the world, for the number and quality of transplants performed. Over these fifteen years FITOT has actively engaged in donation culture, promoting support activities and the concept of an aware and informed choice, and in training, becoming one of the reference training agencies for the Italian Ministry of Health and the Regional Transplant Centre. Our awareness that we cannot "slow down" our commitment, but aim at achieving higher and higher goals, prompts us to increasingly focus on research and the exchange of knowledge, both at home and internationally, and to intensify our continuous professional development initiatives for medical and paramedical personnel.
